You should layout a complete blueprint to follow if you

formal plan. If you have a formal plan, this puts you one step ahead of
your competitors. This alone will enable YOU to win the lion's share of
business. So what's your plan or blueprint to be successful? Remember
it's planning that enables you to get what you want and to know when you
get it.
Here is a quick outline for putting together a
winning promotional campaign.
- First you need to determine your objective: Is it trying to get
orders? Inquiries? Generate Leads? Your objective must be something
you can measure so that you know how well your campaign is performing.
What method of promotion are you going to utilize, web, print, radio
or tv? What is the Return-on-Investment you expect to see? When can
you expect that return? How will you measure it?
- Next, who do want to reach with this message? You've got to figure
out YOUR target market and how to best reach them. Is what you're
selling simple requiring little thought? Or is it such a major purchase
that they're going to have to see something really impressive from
you before they'll buy? Maybe it's somewhere in between? You've got
to know all the pieces before you can begin to make a compelling sales
argument.
- If your product or service is complex you need to start offering
information on "How to buy" or "the best way to investigate"
your product or service. Offering this information in detail on a
website or better yet in the form of a report or newsletter. This
is the type of offer serious prospect are willing to look into. No
one wants to make a mistake when making a large expensive purchase.
They will take the time to educate themselves on the subject before
spending money. By you becoming the source of information you in turn
can gain the confidence and hopefully the business from these interested
prospects.
- Now you can start writing your marketing materials in a way that
will help you obtain the above objectives. Please don't talk about
you in your marketing talk to your prospects about the values of your
product or service in general, don't talk about you and your company.
People can quickly get turned off when you over hype things. Keep
it simple and value oriented. Your prospects will remember you much
better if you address their concerns and don't waste their time blowing
your own horn on how great you and your company are.
Action Is What Leads To Success!
Now that you know your objective, who your targeting and
what your going to say to get results, you're ready to start executing
your marketing. Once you start you'll quickly see how well your campaign
is working, if people are requesting your information offers or buying
your products you can measure your return against any financial investment.
